This years premier event will again be the People’s Choice Salsa and Chili Competition. More than 5,000 attended last year and this year’s event will be bigger and better than ever. Local resident cooks and professional chef’s will compete during three days of hot competition...and you’re invited to participate.
If you make a great salsa, Friday will be your day to make and sample 12 different varieties.
If chili is your thing, Saturday is for home cooks to compete for this year’s honors and on Sunday, local restaurant chefs will be serving their creations. All of which will be available for sampling and voting for by the public.
For details and to sign up, check out www.mexicanchilicookoff.com
We could also use a few volunteers to help work the tasting line and help the cooks during the event. Please email if you can help during this, the biggest charity event at lakeside.
There will be cash prizes along with trophies and certificates for this year's cook-off winners. First place on all three days will win 1000 pesos, Second place 300-pesos and Third Place 200-pesos.
Thanks to those of you who have already signed up. Remember, there will be only 12 stoves and tents available for contestants.
This charity event provides funding for:
Casa de Ancianos
The School for the Deaf
Ninos de Chapala y Ajijic
The Women's Center
Cruz Roja
Ninos Incapacipatos
Mission San Pablo
Ninos de San Antonio
Each of these charities also have booths at the event, where they cook a variety of food for sale, serve baked goods and tell the public about their works.
